It depends on your insurance plan. Many plans allow you to book directly with a specialist, while some HMO plans require a referral from your primary care doctor. Call our office at (732) 217-3890 and we will check your plan before your visit.

No. If you already have X-rays or an MRI, please bring the report and images. Dr. Jow is RMSK certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound, so he can often evaluate muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints during your visit. If more imaging is needed, he will order it.
-
Dr. Jow will review your history, examine the area that is bothering you, and go over any imaging you have. He will then explain what he believes is causing your pain and talk through your treatment options, which may include physical therapy, medication, an injection, or a combination.
-
Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of your current medications, any imaging reports or discs, and a referral if your insurance plan requires one.
-
Yes. Dr. Jow focuses on non-surgical care, including image-guided injections, nerve blocks, regenerative treatments such as PRP, and non-opioid medication management. If surgery may be the right option for you, he can refer you to a surgeon.

Most patients describe a quick pinch followed by some pressure. The skin is numbed first, and ultrasound or X-ray guidance allows Dr. Jow to place the needle precisely. Most injections take only a few minutes.
-
It varies from person to person. Some patients feel better for a few weeks, while others get relief for several months or longer. Injections tend to work best when combined with physical therapy and a home exercise program.

Cortisone is an anti-inflammatory medication that calms pain and swelling, often within a few days. PRP uses platelets from your own blood to support healing in a tendon or joint. It usually takes several weeks to notice improvement after PRP.
-
PRP is usually not covered by insurance. The cost is $1,200 per injection site.
-
Do not stop any medication on your own. Let us know if you take a blood thinner, and Dr. Jow will tell you whether anything needs to change before your procedure, often after checking with the doctor who prescribes it.
